Preparing the Garden for Summer
The gardening committee has begun the spring pruning schedule, focusing on the historic London Planes to ensure optimal canopy coverage before the gates open in May.
Each year, the Committee works with our contracted horticulturalists to prepare the garden for the summer season. This spring’s programme includes:
- Crown-lifting of the four London Plane trees to improve light levels across the lawn
- Replanting of the seasonal border beds with a mixture of perennials and heritage rose varieties
- Reseeding of bare patches on the central lawn following last winter’s heavy use
- Inspection and minor repairs to the cast-iron railings along the south perimeter
- Pressure-washing and re-sanding of the gravel paths
The garden is expected to open to the public from Monday 1 May 2026, subject to weather conditions. Opening hours will be 12:00–15:00, weekdays only, as in previous seasons.
We are also delighted to announce that this year’s Open Garden Squares Weekend will include Fitzroy Square Garden. We will be open to the general public on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June 2026 as part of the London Gardens Trust’s annual event — one of only two weekends each year that the garden is accessible to all.
Volunteer Days
We are looking for volunteers to assist with the spring planting programme. If you are a frontager or resident who would like to get involved, please contact the committee secretary to register your interest. Volunteer days run on the first Saturday of each month from April to September.
